Under the heading "CE marking makes Europes market yours !"  the European Commission has launched an information campaign on CE marking.     The campaign is aimed at raising the awareness and understanding of CE marking by boosting the visibility and public trust in CE marking.    For products manufactured in the EU it is the manufacturers responsibility to carry out the conformity assessment, set up the technical files, issue the EC declaration of conformity and affix CE marking on a product.
