     Automotive EMC Testing - EMC Vehicle Testing  

EMC Automotive Component Testing

With radio communications on the increase and the reliance on technology for vehicle control systems the EMC phenomena is a growing hazard to the safety of the driver and passengers of any modern motor vehicle.

Powerful radio signals and other in vehicle electrical occurrences (such as transients) can adversely effect any electrical/electronic system fitted to a vehicle. To combat this, the European Union has issued a specification (Reg 10.05) to help control this environment. Further, the major vehicle manufacturers insist that suppliers of electrical and electronic systems fitted to a vehicle should meet their own EMC standards. These standards require testing above and beyond the legal requirements to ensure as much as possible the safety of all road users as well as producing a reliable vehicle for their customers. In the increasingly competitive market, some of these manufacturers have asked their component suppliers to take on board the implications of the EMC phenomena and to test to their manufacturers specification at an accredited test laboratory.

Approvals

  •  3C Test are accredited by UKAS for the majority of most widely used commercial European Standards, under Accreditation Number 1204
  •  3C Test are an approved EMC facility for Technical Service by the UK\'s Vehicle Certification Agency. This allows manufacturers of Automotive ESA\'s to gain the \'e\' mark under automotive directive 2004/104/EC in addition to Taiwan VSCC.
  • We are one of a select few test houses in the United Kingdom able to perform Automotive EMC Testing for suppliers to the Ford Motor Company
  • 3C Test Ltd is Jaguar Land Rover, Fiat/Chrysler and GM Accredited.
  • NPIA – (National Policing Improvement Agency) Approved EMC Test House
  • We are also FCC and Industry Canada listed allowing our reports to be used to gain access to the lucrative North American market

 

3C Test Ltd granted VCA Technical Service Status

Following the evaluation of test methods, procedures and systems, 3C Test Ltd are appointed as a Technical Service for the VCA for automotive components (Reg.10.05.)

  • Radiated Immunity: 20Hz-18GHz up to 600V/m (depending on frequency range and test method)
  • Test methods include Tem Cell, bulk current injection, stripline, free-field and magnetic field.
  • Radiated Emissions: 20Hz-26.5GHz
  • Conducted Emissions: 20Hz-120MHz
  • Transients: Configurable systems from Teseq and EM Test covering all pulses specified by Ford, GM, Daimler Chrysler,ISO and others.

DC Electrical Performance testing using Fully variable set-ups with function generators in tandem with DC-150kHz amplifiers up to 10kW to ISO 16750 and most OEM requirements

ESD: Variable Networks up to ±30kV, contact and air.

Manufacturers test specifications supported include Ford, Jaguar/Land Rover, McLaren, Bentley, Audi, Volvo, Aston Martin, BMW, Daimler Chrysler, Fiat, GM, PSA, Renault, Scania, SAAB, VW, Lamborghini, Nissan and others.
